Analog Devices, Inc. (ADI) launched SigmaStudio for SHARC graphics development tool for audio applications. SigmaStudio for SHARC is based on ADI’s acclaimed SigmaStudio for SigmaDSP digital signal processor tool. It is a programming, development and real-time adjustment software environment that allows developers to take advantage of a rich optimization library containing more than 100 pre-built audio algorithms , Graphically design and program the audio application of the SHARC processor. SigmaStudio for SHARC tool supports block processing and sample processing, and implements many functions, such as filtering, mixing, decoding and dynamic processing, as well as basic underlying DSP functions and control modules on multiple audio channels.

Using this new tool, audio engineers can combine familiar audio processing modules in a schematic-like layout, while the compiler generates DSP-ready code and "control interface" for direct real-time setting and adjustment of all parameters on the production system . The SigmaStudio for SHARC tool provides powerful enough functions to not only meet the needs of experienced DSP engineers, but also enable developers with little or no experience in DSP code writing to easily implement SHARC audio processors in their designs.

The SigmaStudio for SHARC tool is downloaded as free software and requires a Windows PC, CrossCore Embedded Studio IDE, a supported SHARC EZ-Kit, and a USB adapter cable.
