Average spot price of DRAM/NAND chips fell again last week

According to Taiwan media reports, inSpectrum, a market research company, recently released a statistical report on the storage chip market last week. After experiencing stable performance at the end of the month, the average spot price of DRAM/NAND chips in the market began to decline again last week.

InSpectrum said that some market traders believe that DRAM manufacturers will release more chips to the spot market later because of the arrival of the end of the month, so they will sell off a large area of ​​their holdings. Earlier in order to boost market demand to ensure profits, some DRAM suppliers began to limit their shipments in the spot market earlier this month.

As of the afternoon of February 18, the price of 1Gb and 2Gb DDR3 chips in the spot market fell by 3% and 5% to 1.22 and 2.08, respectively.

Since the employees of the downstream suppliers have not resumed work after the Lunar New Year, the price of NAND flash memory chips has also shown a downward trend. However, the overall spot price of the NAND market is expected to increase as employees return to work next week and demand from OEM suppliers increases.

As of February 18, spot prices for 16Gb, 32Gb MLC NAND flash memory dropped 3%, 2% to 4.21 US dollars and 5.46 US dollars.
