China's power supply and demand situation is still tight in 2012

According to authoritative forecasts, due to the overall economic situation, the growth rate of China's electricity demand in 2012 will fall by about 2%, and it will show a trend of low and high growth.

The reporter learned from the China Electric Power Enterprise Federation (CEC) today that in 2011 China's whole society used a steady and rapid increase in electricity consumption, and the installed capacity of power generation continued to increase. In 2011, the total electricity consumption in China was 4692.8 billion kWh, an increase of approximately 12% year-on-year; the newly installed capacity was 90.41 million kilowatts.

For the national electricity demand in 2012, CEC predicts that in the context of the overall economic growth slowdown, the growth rate of electricity consumption in 2012 will be about 2 percentage points lower than that in 2011.

According to relevant sources of the China Electric Power Association, the installed capacity of newly added electric power in the country will be reduced by about 10 million kilowatts from last year, which is the lowest year since 2006.

The responsible person of the CEC emphasized that the current development of the power industry is still facing a severe situation. In terms of safety production, the risk of large-scale power outages has always existed. The shortage of power supply and demand continues. The situation of power shortage changes with economic changes, and the development of power security is facing severe challenges. In terms of the development mechanism, the first is currently the lack of a unified power development planning mechanism, followed by the lack of a reasonable electricity price mechanism, and finally the lack of an efficient market regulation mechanism. The development mechanism of China's electric power science needs to be established.
