Japanese media reported on the 11th that Toshiba plans to mass-produce white LED products within this year, with the goal of significantly expanding its monthly production capacity to 150 times.

Toshiba has used its 8-inch wafer plant in Kaga Toshiba to mass-produce white LED products for lighting and LCD panel backlighting in December 2012, with a monthly production capacity of 10 million.

According to the Nikkan Kogyo Shimbun, Toshiba plans to introduce a total of 50 billion yen (equivalent to RMB 3.06 billion) into the new equipment during the 2014-2016 period, with the goal of expanding the monthly capacity of white LEDs to the end of 2016. 1.5 billion (up to 150 times the current).

Toshiba acquired the white LED wafer related assets such as GaN-on-Silicon technology owned by Preh in April 2013.

Toshiba estimates that the global white LED market in 2016 will grow significantly from 700 billion yen (about 42.847 billion yuan) in 2011 to 1.25 trillion yen (about 76.512 billion yuan), and Toshiba plans to win in 2016. White LED has a global market share of 10%, which means that Toshiba's 2016 white LED revenue will reach 7.65 billion yuan.
