The AX 3082 is a chip that can charge and control a variety of batteries. It can charge single-cell lithium batteries, single-cell lithium iron phosphate batteries or two- to four-cell NiMH batteries. The device includes a power transistor internally that does not require an external current sense resistor and blocking diode. The AX 3082 requires very few peripheral components and is compliant with USB bus specifications, making it ideal for portable applications. The thermal modulation circuit can control the temperature of the chip within a safe range when the power consumption of the device is relatively large or the ambient temperature is relatively high. The chip integrates a high-precision voltage comparator with an accuracy of 1%, which can accurately set the constant current charge termination voltage. The internal 8-bit analog-to-digital conversion circuit automatically adjusts the charging current according to the current output capability of the input voltage source. The user does not need to consider the worst case, and can maximize the current output capability of the input voltage source, which is very suitable for using solar panels. The AX 3082 charge current can be set by an external resistor. When the input voltage is powered down, the AX 3082 automatically enters a low-power sleep mode where the battery draws less than 3 microamps. Other features include low input voltage latching, trickle charge at low battery voltage, automatic recharge, battery temperature monitoring, and status indication.

The AX 3082 is available in a thermally enhanced 8-pin small outline package (SOP8).
