Experts hit the face! Apple iMessage information may be intercepted

Apple introduced the latest iOS 10 system at WWDC, which is not a big bright spot for the improvement of iMessage, but also greatly improved in security.

Now, experts have come face to face. According to a cryptography expert from Hopkins University in the United States, Apple iMessage communication service has security risks.

Experts believe that Apple iMessage still has security risks. For this reason, they published a paper that specifically introduced and described this vulnerability.

They described the way in which hackers use "cryptographic attacks" to review the decryption of certain types of payloads and attachments, regardless of whether the sender or receiver is still online. This solution uses the stolen TLS certificate or access to the Apple server directly to intercept the content sent by the iMessage user.

Although it was a headache, things did not seem so serious because they also stated that the hackers who implemented the attack must have a fairly high level and attack resources. The researchers pointed out that state-funded hackers have the ability to complete such attacks.

iMessage enabled the end-to-end encryption protocol, ending the use of encryption for network traffic only. The messages sent through iMessage still have risks under complex and sophisticated attack techniques. And Apple did not regularly update the encryption key, which means that the same attack can use the iMessage historical data backed up on iCloud.
